Feng Shui Décor: Express the Fire Element with a Fireplace
For good Feng Shui energy inside your home or office, you need to subtly balance each of the five elements of this ancient Chinese system, metal, earth, fire, water and wood, with different items that are pleasing to the eye and go well with the aesthetic of the rest of the interior décor. According to the Bagua map, the fire element is most welcomed in the South, Southwest, Center and Northeast area of the house, and should be avoided in the East, Southeast, West, Northwest and North areas.
There are many products that can be used in the interior décor to express the energy of the fire element, and an indoor fireplace is definitely among the most popular. A built in fireplace in the South area of the house will bring luck and good fortune to the family. The type of the fireplace does not make difference, as long as it complements the energies brought with the rest of the decoration.
Since the fire element is Yang, or Light energy symbolized by the color red, you can play with this color when accessorizing the fireplace mantel or the walls around it. Placement of red objects, such as art or photo frames, vases, or lighting fixtures in the fire colors, will add to the positive Yang energy, and the walls painted in deep purple or sunset orange color will increase the fire energy present in your home décor.
