Tabletop models are unique. Their fuel is usually a liquid or gelled ethanol product and the flame is directed between two panes of glass, encased in a glass cube, or housed in an attractive bowl. They generate just enough heat for an intimate gathering of two or three.  Lawn and garden torches also generate a generous amount of heat. Tabletop versions keep unwanted pests at bay, while offering light and warmth.

Fire pits also double as outdoor fire places. They usually have a handle so they can be relocated to the most desirable location. Some even have wheels. Most utilize wood, although propane versions are also available.
