Bio-Fuel Fireplaces burn two types of fuel; gel and liquid ethanol. There has never been a recall (voluntary or otherwise) or a major consumer incident with any liquid ethanol product (Nu-Flame Fuel is a liquid ethanol). The recalls of "pourable" gel fuel have been based on inferior pourable gel burners (ceramic fire pots) which have been pulled from all retail shelves and their lack of warning to consumers.  Because of the issues from the fire pots pourable gel fuel has be "voluntarily" recalled by the makers. Please note this recall of "pourable" gel is voluntary not mandatory and regular gel fuel cans are still being sold without incident. The only effected fuel has been "pourable" gel fuel.

The Nu-Flame line is safety conscious, featuring safety wall brackets, thick tempered glass, and heavy stainless steel burners. Our packaging(information on the box and information on interior pieces) and our very thorough and graphic heavy instructions ensure the consumer is educated as to the risks of misuse of the product. Decorative Ethanol fireplaces have been sold for a over a decade in Europe without incident. Our Nu-Flame fuel features Bitrex which provides a powerful defense against accidental swallowing and child safety caps.

So not only are our Nu-Flame fireplaces safe but our liquid Ethanol fuel is safe as well.
