I’ve never been much of a philosopher. I always take life as it comes to me. I
don’t sit around and ponder why we are here or what life is all about. I’m more
content to just sit and enjoy a late summer’s night fire with the backyard fire
pit.
Tonight, though, something must have gotten to me. I can’t stop thinking about
Shakespeare. I have no idea why, maybe it was that homework assignment I helped
my Sarah with. I keep thinking about Hamlet and that famous quote- “To be or not
to be”.
What did he mean by that? To be alive or not to be alive? To be hungry or not to
be hungry?
I think he simply meant we could choose to be in the moment and live our lives,
or we could choose not to be in the moment and fight life every chance we get. I
would say then, I am living the ‘to be’ life. It’s just much easier that way,
but what do I know? I’m no deep thinker.
