I’ve always thought people who make hand crafted items have to have nerves of
steel. There’s no way I could take time to carefully place tile in a pretty
pattern. By the time I hurried through the project it’d look a mess when I was
done. I have no patience.
There was this one time when I tried to tile the bathroom. I thought it would be
simple to do. That is a major understatement. Not even half way into the project
I was covered in putty and had broken so many tiles that the project no longer
involved carefully laid tiles, but rather took on a mosaic look. It was a
disaster. My wife banned me from further projects that involve an ounce of
patience or creativity. We ended up having to hire someone to come in and redo
the whole floor.
Yes, I have no patience. I would rather just buy some hand crafted item then try
to do it myself – it’s much cheaper.
