I bought this fire pit for the unique beauty and lightness of the design, which allowed the natural beauty of all the plants on my relatively small patio to shine. Recently everyone remarked how wonderful and beautiful it is during an event where we used it for cooking hot dogs. I was surprised, however, that it did not come with a protective cover, as most do, and that the screened top showed some rust after a bit of rain.
